Nawabad Youth Center is initiated by Women Development Foundation Pakistan in collaboration with DAI. The first phase was successfully implemented in Nawabad from September 2018 to August 2019. Nawabad Youth Center is initiated by Women Development Foundation Pakistan in collaboration with DAI. The first phase was successfully implemented in Nawabad from September 2018 to August 2019. The core objective of this project is to work for peace and harmony, among the diverse religious groups residing in Nawabad.
During its first phase, Youth Development Trainings were held at the center 60 youth both men and women were trained. To engage indirect beneficiaries 16 Center activities and 16 community activities were conducted on several important topics. Eventually, 12 Social Action Projects were successfully implemented. Following are the activities conducted for project.
Training materials were designed to enhance the potentials of the direct beneficiaries for community interventions. 60 Youth were trained on these topics for 5 days; later on, during the training 12 groups were formed and these groups selected issues of their areas and successfully executed their Social Action Projects.
Total of 16 centers’ activities on these mentioned topics were conducted at the center. Participants were both men and women from diverse ethnos religious groups attended these sessions. Moreover, these events promote pluralism and diversity. During these activities, community stakeholders were mobilized to help the indirect beneficiaries while executing their social action projects. Virtually, all the influential stakeholders of the area attended these sessions and later they helped all the outreach and social action projects in their constituencies.
The direct beneficiaries of Nawabad Youth Center consist of 12 Social Action Projects teams, all these 60 youth have successfully implemented their social action projects in their areas. These projects were on multiple themes during implementations awareness were given to all the residents. Most of the residents of the area applauded these activities and vowed to register their children to these projects
After the successful completion of first phase of Nawabad Youth center; the second phase was launched from October 2019 and will continue till August 2020. This time the numbers of direct beneficiaries were extended elder women and men are also included in the committees. During this project total of 192 direct beneficiaries will be trained and 48 social action projects will be executed on the themes; Art and Culture, Women Empowerment, Sports for Diversity and Interfaith Harmony. Moreover, to engage indirect beneficiaries 8 Community Events and 16 Centre events will be conducted. Further, after completion of these Social Action Projects 8 show casting events will be held to illustrate the SAPs
Nawabad Free Exchange Library is an initiative by some youth activists from the local community of Nawabad Lyari. These youth went through Youth Development Trainings and decided to establish an open library to promote literacy and as well as help those students who cannot afford to purchase books for their studies. Around 2000 books were placed there and deserving students collected it. The local stakeholders, community members and youth appreciated this initiative and pledged book donation. Every day students are voluntarily placing their extra books in the shelf.
