Women Development Foundation Pakistan-WDFP
has its very own vocational training center named
“Women Skill Development Center” WSDC, which is
certified from Trade Testing Board-TTB and Sindh
Technical Education and Vocational Training
Authority-STEVTA for carrying out certified
courses. It is located in Maripur, where courses like
Beautician, Stitching and Information Technology
were carried out to raise the living conditions of
the residential community of Kemari Town. A very
successful Non-Formal Education Center was also
developed and supervised by Women Skill
Development Center which educated hundreds of
young girls and boys in past.
Vocational training center in Maripur is the key to
income generation and better employment
opportunities of women. Currently WSDC is facilitating the young girls from low income families
of Kemari Town to enhance their professional skills. This Project is being run with the support of
Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Human Resource Research and Development Board-BBSHRRDB since
February 2015, which aims to strengthen the abilities of youth (Girls) so they could encounter
their challenge of employability. WSDC has successfully completed five batches under BBSHRDP
and till now 290 girls (18 to 35) are benefited from the stitching and beautician courses. In these
courses’ trainees enrolled for a period of four months and being trained under the supervision of
qualified trainers. Under this program student does not only receive free training but also
receive a stipend for each course to motivate them and to support their living. Sixth batch of
training began in the month of December 2019 and will complete in the month of April 2020.
WDFP hired talented girls on vacancies and refer to other institutes for placement. WDFP also
organized closing and certificates distribution ceremony after the completion of batch, to encourage the performance of students. Trainees participated in bridal competition and best
dress making competitions, in which they display their artistic work by preparing brides and
making creative designs of dresses. Prizes are also distributed to winners for best bride make up
and best dress making, through this ceremony their motivation level boosts up and they exhibit
their work in front of all audience.
WDFP provides opportunities to home-based workers to exhibit their products at WDFP Centers
and different exhibitions at renowned hotels where they can showcase their products and build
linkages in markets and with costumers to find out various ways of business
